Last Sunday – Kitchen Jazz

‘Kitchen Jazz’ was the Last Sunday service I put together for Foundation in August 2017 on the theme of Food and Hospitality.

Based on Ian Adams’ poetry and reflection called ‘Kitchen Jazz’ in his book ‘Running Over rocks’. This was a great service, different from the previous Last Sundays as we spent the whole service seated around along table in the Chancel rather than moving around as we had previously done. The service included more participatory elements than we had tried before (writing your own collect, discussion etc). The service concluded with an edible surprise that got people chatting and galvanised my opinion that food really is an important part in people’s spiritual experience.
